Painting the mountain with the moon

Artistic research @AlpsArtAcademy #3

Being unfamiliar with the Alps, being raised 1650 meters below Safiental, my first focus of my research during the Alps Art Academy was on understanding and experiencing the mountainous landscape and its context. Focussing on the (un)conscious effects of the geographical environment, walking and framing became my critical tool for experimentation with the mountainous landscape. With these psychogeographic experiments and intuitive impressions I explored the balance between the physicality as well as the beyond human proportion of the mountains.

About Painting the mountain with the moon

Every day the mountain looks different. It’s not static, it moves as if it’s alive. Walking a mountain generates movement and that movement is expressed in trying to paint the mountainous horizon with the light of the full moon. (Full color photographs, 9x10cm.)

A selection of these photo’s was presented at Berghotel Alpenblick, Tenna – GPS: 46.746727, 9.339001 on Saturday Oct 3, 2020 during Art Biennale ART SAFIENTAL.
