Misoka-an Kawamichi-ya 河道屋
In Japan most of the restaurants have their own speciality, like sushi or yakitori and won’t serve anything else.
Misoka-an Kawamichi-ya is such a speciality restaurant, a soba (buckweat noodles) restaurant to be specific. The quality of soba can vary from place to place depending on the broth, the noodles or the topping. But at Kawamachi-ya you can taste the three centuries (!) old efforts that have been put in the dish. The noodles are just right, the broth intense and the topping adding extra flavour. Although the restaurant is centrally located, on the west side of Fuyacho and north of Sanjo-dori, it has tranquil gardens in the front and in the back, which makes Kawamachi-ya an excellent lunch stop in a busy day.
