Taking action – the Kyoto way
On August 5th I received an e-mail from one of the workshops’ participants, Dairik Amae. He’s an architect but also offers tea ceremonies in his traditional machiya in the north of Kyoto. One day he decided to dedicate the tea ceremony to a different cause:
I just wanted to send a message to how I was inspired to take action after your workshop. (…) The other day I happened to pass by a demolition site of a machiya in the neighbourhood. I decided to make a tea offering (across the street) in order to recognize the situation for five minutes while I prepare the tea. Some people stopped to look at me and they noticed the demolition. I think I will continue this act and document it. Dairik Amae
